A few days before the rehearsal took place Rhiannon asked if there was anyone with an Industrial Revolution costume who was available to come to rehearsal an hour early and was happy to get messy. Rhiannon didn't say what the messy part involved but a few of us volunteered, including myself. Approximately 8 cast members came to rehearsal an hour early. Rhiannon explained the messy part and taught us some choreography. The messy part sounds really good and I think it will be spectacular. I can't wait! In true Olympic style I can't tell you what the messy part is, because we want to #savethesurprise, but if you come to the show you'll see it! Buy tickets here.
I was really impressed with what the Industrial Revolution group achieved in just one hour. Towards the end of our rehearsal the rest of the cast began to arrive so we showed them what we had done. They too were impressed with how much we had achieved and said it was quite 'dark'! It was great to receive their feedback because when you're dancing in something it's hard to tell what it looks like from the outside.
Rhiannon also mentioned that our blog and website are proving really popular. I'm really pleased to hear people are reading the blog and sharing it online. Thank you! If you have any questions for us please feel free to comment below. Also, Andrew continues to take beautiful photos of the cast during rehearsals which add so much life and colour to the website. The photos also help to bring back memories for me. I forget what we do each week but seeing the photos it's like I'm in the rehearsal again!
Next we rehearsed doing the 'messy' Industrial Revolution routine followed by our main routine. You can read about the main routine in this blog post. Together, these two routines became the first part of the show! So now we have the first 7 minutes of the show and we only need to work out the remaining 8 minutes! Everyone was really chuffed that we sorted the first 7 minutes of the show.
We are also going to include the pictures routine into the show. You can read about the pictures routine here. Rhiannon gave us two more words so we created two more pictures and she also showed us how to fold properly. It was hilarious when Rhiannon demonstrated how we were folding compared to how we were meant to be folding! Basically we were all spreading out so we had lots of room to fold. When what we were meant to be doing was folding on the spot - even if that meant folding on top of each other!
And that was it for rehearsal five. Sadly we don't have a rehearsal next Saturday but we do on the following Saturday. Remember to buy a ticket to see the show and ask us questions/comment below! Thank you :)
